Working to Educate the Public on Barkworks, Thousand Oaks
Tabling
What: A peaceful protest to educate the public on where dogs from Barkworks come from and to ban the pet store until they change to a humane store or stop carrying animals all together.
When: Saturday, April 11th, 11am-3pm
Where: Inside the Thousand Oaks Mall. Specific location to be determined.
Who: Animal-loving people who do not wish to support puppy mills
Why: To help raise awareness of the thousands of mistreated animals needing a forever home that should not spend their lives in a cage by handing out pamphlets and showing a list of great dogs currently available at the local shelters.

Last Chance for Animals, a 501 c(3) non-profit organization, is working towards a day in making Los Angeles a no kill city, where pet stores no longer support puppy mills but shelter animals and rescue groups. LCA is committed to oversee and endorse pet stores in Los Angeles that are willing to change their business practice from selling puppy mill animals to re-homing only shelter animals.

Benefit Concert

Where: The world famous Whiskey A-Go-Go, Hollywood, CA
Who: People who love music and wish to support animal rights and ban vivisection
Why: To help raise awareness that vivisection is still an active, unacceptable practice. This is a fundraiser to raise money to help promote the antivivisection cause and educate the general public.

Lecture with Michael Budkie (Founder and Director of Stop Animal Exploitation Now) &
Screening and discussion with Shannon Keith's, "Behind the Mask"
When: April 20, 2009 from 12:15pm - 2:15pm
Where: UCLA Law School Room 1357. UCLA near the intersection of Hilgard Ave and Wyton. Immediately after entering the campus on Wyton, there will be a parking Kiosk, which is directly north of the law school building. Kiosk attendants will direct you to the nearest available parking and direct you to the LAw School. The public is welcome to attend this event free of charge, parking at UCLA is $9 per vehicle.

Rally and Press Conference at UCLA and UCI
When: April 22, 2009 from 10:30am
Where: UCLA near the intersection of Le Conte and Westwood for the rally. At 1:30pm a bus will be leaving this sight to go to UCI for the Press Conference
Who: Rich McLellen, M.D. (president of the California Chapter of the League of Human Voters, Emergency Medical Consultant and Zoologist), Michael Budkie (Founder and Director of S.A.E.N.), Shannon Keith (Documentary film maker of "Behind the Mask", attorney and legislative consultant to LA Dept of Animal Services) and Peter Young (Animal Rights Activist)

Protest/Vigil at Cedars Sinai
When: April 23, 2009 6:00pm - 8:00pm
Where: Cedars Sinai, at the corner of Beverly Boulevard and San Vicente. Parking is available for $2 in the Beverly Center.

Earth Day 2009
When: April 25, 2009 10:00am - 3:00pm
Where: The SEA lab Conservation Corps, 1021 North Harbor Drive, Redondo Beach, CA 90277
Why: To join in free festivities while educating the whole family on ways to become more environmentally friendly.

LCA takes Cesar Milan Undercover to a Puppy Mill
When: Friday, May 08, 2009 at 9:00pm on National Geographic Sunday, May 10, 2009 at 6am Friday, May 15, 2009 at 2 pm
Who: Last Chance for Animals Special Investigations Unit takes Cesar Milan undercover into a puppy mill. This powerful new Dog Whisperer episode lets viewers witness the horrors of puppy mills firsthand as Cesar works to rehabilitate these dogs who have never known a world outside of their overcrowded cages or learned how to interact with humans. Watch Cesar teach the LCA team how to rehabilitate the traumatized dogs from the moment they are rescued out of their cages.
Worldfest Encino

Where: Woodley Park, 6350 Woodley Avenue, Encino, CA
Who: Admission is $7 for Adults; $5 for Seniors; Kids Under 12 are Free and Pets are Always Welcome
Why: To enjoy a day filled with entertainment, education and enlightenment. The combination of great music, empowering speakers, environmental, humanitarian and animal welfare non-profits, kid's activities and a delicious food court make for an earth friendly experience that is sure to be inspiring and enjoyable for all.
